Polycrylic is not as durable as polyurethane and is meant to be used only on interior surfaces such as cabinets, furniture, and trim. It shouldn’t be used in exterior applications or on surfaces that are subject to lots of wear, such as floors, or that are exposed to water.

It’s ready for light handling after about three hours but needs at least 24 hours before it’s ready for “normal use”. We need to be careful during this time because it can scratch or dent before it’s fully cured. Polycrylic doesn’t resist heat and moisture as well as oil-based polyurethane.

Your problem is from applying the poly over uncured Advance, and more than likely, applying the poly way too thick. There was no reason to put that acrylic poly over Advance. If you just would’ve let the Advance cure, it would’ve been plenty durable all by itself.
Why can’t you use polycrylic over red mahogany stain?
It’s not jut Polycrylic, it’s any waterborne finish. The pigment in the red stain is iron oxide and it reacts badly with a waterborne finish turning it more brown than red. You can cheat though and put a single coat of Zinsser Sealcoat over the stain and then proceed with the water based finish.
